{I Dream in Anthropologie}

Some people dream in color, I tend to dream in Anthropologie.

(Trust me, it's much better than color, and you wake up far more happier)

{Bohemian Decor Baby!}

Bohemian Decor: a type of interior decorating in which vintage items are reused, giving them new life next to new pieces. It's also about mixing decorating styles full of intricate patterns, textures and rich colors set against a more neutral color palette.

I love the play of these bold, rich colors against funky mixed patterns. Bring on the old with the new!

If you are a fashion blogger, chances are you already know and love my Twitter Tuesday buddy, Bessie of Bravoe Runway! If you don't already follow Bessie's amazing blog, I guarantee you will be an instant fan on your first visit. Yes people, she's just that fabulous!

If you are 18 or 80, I assure you, there is something for everyone on Bessies blog. Not only does she have some of the best taste in clothing I have ever seen, she's gorgeous on the inside and out.

She's as down to earth as they come, and is one of the sweetest people I am fortunate to call "friend".

What was your initial goal for your blog when you first began, and how has that changed today?
Bessie: When I first started blogging, it was through the encouragement of my friends to do something with my love for fashion. Initially, the outfits I posted were looks, colours, and styles that I was familiar with. Now, I find that I'm challenging myself to branch outside of my comfort zone, and it's turning into my fashion portfolio.

Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
Bessie: Most of my inspiration comes from magazines, fashion shows, and of course blogs!

Describe your personal or decorating style

Bessie: My personal and decorating styles are about the same. I like clean lines, neutral colours, and modern flair.

How many hours a day/week do you spend working on your blog?
Bessie:

I would say I spend anywhere from 25 to 30 hours a week working on my blog. This includes putting outfits together, commenting, writing and editing my posts.

Where is your favorite place to shop?
Bessie:

I am an equal opportunity shopper, I love Forever 21 as much as I love Saks!

What "must haves" will you be adding to your Spring wardrobe?

Bessie: Spring is all about textures, silhouettes, and clean lines. I'll be adding something with peplum, either a blouse or a skirt. Definitely a bright coloured shoe, and a variety of different styles of skirts outside of my usual pencil skirt selection. Finally, a collarless lady like coat.

What is your favorite piece of clothing/jewelry or home decor, and why?
Bessie: Hmmm do sunglasses count? I will not leave home without wearing my Chanel sunglasses. They make me feel glamorous even if I am not wearing any make-up, I think it's the crystals :)

Do you have any advice for new bloggers who are just getting started?

Bessie:

Take your time because you are going to go through a trial and error phase. Focus on your content such as your pictures, and your posts, and develop those ideas that you have. Content is KING in the blog world, if your content is good readers will follow you, companies will want to sponsor you.

If you have a career besides blogging, what do you do?

Bessie: I currently work in Corporate Finance and completed my MBA with an emphasis in Marketing last June. Wish me luck that this will be the year I finally make a career transition.

Please share with us something we would never guess about you. IE; a favorite hobby, a talent, a quirky habit:

Bessie: I have a mild case of OCD. I keep all of my shoes in their original shoebox. I also keep the tissue stuffing in all of my handbags and store them in their sleeper bags when not in use.

Where did the name for your blog derive from?

Bessie:

Some of the trends and ideas I'm discussing on my blog are nouveau to my readers and I say "bravo" to them for trying something new. The runway is where all the magic and the trends begin and that's how I came up with the name of my blog, Bravoe Runway.

Where do you see yourself in 2 years?
Bessie:

In 2 years, I will 33 years old. I hope to have transitioned outside of my current career and also have the opportunity to continue to grow and expand my blog.

{Robert Yelda: Before He Was Famous}

I believe that everyone is born with some form of natural talent, and it is our job as family members and friends to encourage "the gifted" to pursue their creative dreams.

Robert Yelda, an "undiscovered" Michigan artist, is one of those people to me. I see a natural talent in him. A deep love of painting, and a desire to succeed.
How amazing it must be to start with a blank canvas, and see the masterpiece in your mind come to life.

I am a lover of all art forms, and colorful abstracts are at the top of my list.
(little does Robert know that I secretly plan to fill my house with his paintings)

Did you know that famous painter Henri Rousseau worked as a toll collector? or how about Pierre-Auguste Renoir who was a shoe tailor and dress maker? These men didn't give up on their dream, no matter what the circumstance.

It's not about where you are in your life right now, it's about how you finish.

{est Magazine: Interior Design @ it's Best}

Design inspiration can be found everywhere, from Pinterest, Tumblr and of course all the fabulous interior design blogs I have discovered over the past few short months.

Everyone loves a good ole glossy magazine to leaf through and hold in their hands, but one of the best discoveries I have stumbled upon are interior design ezines.

From colorful photos, excellent typography and interactive links, you as a reader enjoy a full "hands on" experience.

est magazine launched it's first ezine edition in March of 2011, and has been inspiring it's readers ever since. It has been featured on design blogs such as Decor 8, Desire to Inspire, and Apartment Therapy to name a few.

Not only is this magazine jammed pack with over one hundred pages of inspiration, it's free to subscribe!

est is one of my new found favs. (You should go feast your eyes on the newest edition of 128 pages of "gorgeousness" yourself.)

{There is Life After Picnik}

If you are one of the gazillion Picnik users who recently received a friendly "see ya later" email stating that Picnik was forever closing on April 19th, 2012, you were among those who felt a "sense of panic".

I instantly thought "wow, that Picnic didn't last too long, did it?"

Google acquired the online photo editor in 2010, and it is among a list of services that Google will be doing away with this year. When Google made the announcement on January 20th that some of its photo editing tools would be moved to Google+, the new social networking site already claimed to have over 90 million users.

That's all fine & dandy, but I'm not one who easily adapts to change.
Do not fear blogging buddies, I have found us a new online (and free) photo editor!

Ladies & Gentlemen, please meet your new best friend, FotoFlexer.

(kinda sounds like a Superhero, doesn't it?)

I had a chance to play around with some of the features of this program and I was seriously surprised!

To begin FotoFlexing, just register with your email address, and "get to uploading" peeps!

All features of the program are located in tabs at the top of your screen. Just click on the feature you wish to use. Adding text to your photos is a piece of cake....and can we all just say Glitter Text?
Holllaaa hayyy!

There are tons of fun photo effects in FotoFlexer, and I really liked being able to work on multiple photos to save as one image once you are done.

If you are a "layer lover", there is even a tab for you. Import multiple photos and create different layers as you would in PhotoShop.

(honestly, layers involve a little too much learning for me, but rock on with your bad self if that's your thing)

How amazing is the chandelier above the dining area? ...love!

One of the things I love most about New York is that "exposed brick" is considered a luxury item in most apartments or lofts. If you are lucky enough to have one, you and I would be on the same interior design page.

If you are lucky enough to have an exposed brick wall, and live in a New York City loft?
I'm moving in, STAT.

The rustic brick wall with splashes of modern accessories = perfection.

Talk about a wide open space with floor to ceiling windows...I die.

I love the original windows without coverings. It definitely adds charm to the space.

I'm betting these loft stairs lead to a world of design heaven on the second floor.

Good Morning Sweets!!
I hope everyone had a nice, relaxing weekend. Mine was busy & fun, and "ohhhh so nice" to have two days off in a row!

Along with spending Saturday night at the Casino (no such luck, didn't win a cent), and a lazy day on Sunday, I decided to join the world of Tumblr!
I definitely didn't need another thing to become addicted to, but I am having so much fun:)

Maybe because I'm a December baby, I've always loved turquoise. My birthstone is actually called "tanzanite", which through the years I have discovered can look like anything from light blue to teal.

{The Heidelberg Project: Artistic Expression}

What one individual considers art, the next person may find the furthest thing from true art.
I try to understand the true meaning behind every artists piece, and the feelings from which their design was born.

Every artist has a story. A prelude to who they are, and what roads they have traveled to get there.

The Heidelberg Project is an outdoor art project in Detroit, Michigan. It was created in 1986 by artist Tyree Guyton and his grandfather Sam Mackey, as an outdoor art environment in the McDougall-Hunt neighborhood on the city's east side, just north of the city's historically African-American Black Bottom area.

When Tyree returned from serving in the Army, he saw his childhood neighborhood had deteriorated after the 1960's riots.
At first, the project consisted of his painting a series of houses on Detroit's Heidelberg Street with bright dots of many colors and attaching salvaged items to the houses. It was a constantly evolving work that transformed a hard-core inner-city neighborhood where people were afraid to walk, even in daytime, into one in which neighbors took pride and where visitors were many and welcomed.

The Heidelberg Project is recognized around the world as a demonstration of the power of creativity in creating hope and a bright vision for the future.

I embrace Tyree Guyton for his artistic expression, and I am honored to have been photographed in his "living art".

One of my very favorite lifestyle/home interior blogs is being featured this week, Debby of Inspired Design!

Debby is without a doubt, one of my favorite people in the world. I started following Debby's blog very early in my blogging. It's such a delight to read, has sooo many fabulous photos, and Debby herself, is one of the most sincere, and honest friends I know:)

Inspired Design is definitely one of my daily reads and I look forward to her fresh, new posts every morning (yes, sometimes at 6:00 am, yikes, that's early!)

I can always count on Debby to put a smile on my face through her words and photographs of all the "pretty things in the world".

Debby lives in a quaint suburb about 40 minutes Northwest of Boston, and has been blogging at Inspired Design for a little over two years.

Debby's favorite time of day? "I'm starting to really like mornings once I've had a chance to sit down with a cup of coffee and check up on my blog reading and emails".

Debby's favorite way to relax? "Hands down..... bubble bath! I love a luxurious scented bath and candles never hurt either!"

What was your initial goal for your blog when you first began, and how has that changed today?
Debby: I wish I could say I had a master plan, but truth be told I never intended to start a blog. It just kind of happened one night when I was bored and I started playing around and hit publish. Initially, I realized I was having fun with it and it was such a great creative outlet. I decided I would blog even if no one ever read it because it was so much fun.

Going into it blindly, and never even have read a blog before, I didn't realize the amazing relationships you form and the doors that can open simply from having a blog. I have already had some amazing things happen and I truly believe that blogging is going to lead me into something bigger. I believe good things will come my way.

Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
Debby: There are so many things that inspire. Travel is always eye-opening and exposes one to new things and ideas. There are so many great design blogs out there that I follow, and the inspiration they provide is endless. Lastly, I find I always find inspiration whenever I pick up a decor magazine. Very rarely do I ever walk away without seeing at least one idea I'd like to replicate.

Describe your personal or decorating style

Debby: I don't know if I can put a label on my personal style but I'm going to go with casual cute. I love dark wash jeans, can't get enough jackets, have a penchant for flats, scarves and big earrings.

As far as decor, I'm completely bored with my current home. My taste is ever evolving and constantly changing. Being exposed to so many gorgeous interiors on a daily basis doesn't help. I am currently collecting ideas for my inevitable move in the near future. I'm thinking touches of glamour, girly, and possibly a bit more minimal, but I will definitely be filling my new place with only things I love!

How many hours a day/week do you spend working on your blog?
Debby: Hmmmm..... probably too many but I believe determination and hard work pay off. I'm guessing about 21 hours on average.

Where is your favorite place to shop?

Debby: I really love Anthropologie for both clothing and home decor. It's just fun and I'm all about finding anything unique.

What "must haves" will you be adding to your Winter wardrobe?

Debby: I think next fall I will be looking for a new pair of riding boots and I can never have enough scarves! I love how such a small thing can change an entire outfit.

What is your favorite piece of clothing/jewelry or home decor, and why?
Debby: My favorite article of clothing is a buttery soft camel leather jacket. I just love the color and fit and never tire of it. I've had it for so long it's like a good friend.

"I love to surround myself with items that have meaning. I framed some of the photographs I took in Paris in gorgeous frames and made a wall collage. Every time I look at them it brings me back."

Do you have any advice for new bloggers who are just getting started?

Debby: I've got lots of advice:

Getting readers initially is slow, don't get discouraged!

Be authentic.... readers can smell insincerity or a copycat a mile away. Let your personality shine, people are drawn to openness.

Blog regularly and visit similar blogs consistently. Introduce yourself and leave interesting and heartfelt comments. Most bloggers will respond or follow in return.

Work every social media tool out there! Connect your blog to Twitter, have a Facebook Fan Page, utilize Pinterest and Tumblr.

Don't be afraid to try new things. It's a lot of trial and error in blogging. You will find what your readers respond to.

Ask, ask, ask. Do you have a blogger you respect or have a good relationship with? Ask for help when you get stumped or are unsure how to do something. The only stupid question is the one that goes unasked.

If you have a career besides blogging, what do you do?

Debby: Do I have to pick just one? I've already had so many. Hairstylist, Visual Merchandiser, Mom, Web Designer. I'm a girl who likes change. I'm going to say Interior Stylist. That way, I could combine my visual merchandising background with my love of interiors. Of course, if I could ever survive off of writing that would be a dream as well.

Please share with us something we would never guess about you. IE; a favorite hobby, a talent, a quirky habit:

Debby: I saved my Mom's life once. She was choking on a grape. I didn't even know I knew how to do the Heimlich Maneuver. My instincts just kicked into action and out popped the grape.

Where did the name for your blog derive from?

Debby: First thing that popped into my head. Seriously. There was no thinking involved.

Where do you see yourself in 2 years?
Debby: Wouldn't I like to know the answer to this one?! Anyone who already reads Inspired Design, knows about all of the life changes I am facing. A pending divorce after 19 years of marriage, a house that is too big and too expensive to maintain, a son in college, a daughter with a few more years of High School to finish up.

I would like to think that I will have a scaled down place that is full of personality and completely mine. I don't need to be a millionaire, just make enough to live comfortably. I'm fantasizing about a quaint little life on Nantucket Island. Strolling the cobblestone streets, befriending the locals, and taking my dog to the beach.

{The House That Kate Spade Built}

Being a huge fan of Kate Spade & her designs, it comes as no surprise that her living space would reflect so much of her distinguishing personality.

Kate & Andy Spades' New York City apartment is the perfect example of Eclectic living at it's best.

I'm swooning over her amazing decor & ability to make so many unique pieces blend seamlessly.
The fact that you can find stacks of books in just about any room, gives me one more reason to love her!

"No, I’m not crazy about them. I would love it ifsomeone did a hand-painted wallpaper with an enormous boat on silk orsomething, but stenciling and faux finishing are never okay. At least not forme."

"They drive me batty! Andy and I have rentedhouses where we’ve actually asked each other, “Is this a joke? Why would youput so many pillows on a bed?” The only pillows I want on my bed are the ones Isleep on. I don’t do any decorative pillows on my bed. "

{Weight Loss Journey: The Tale of Mother & Daughter}

It has been two years since my daughter Chloe and I joined Weight Watchers. We are both still going strong people!!! I thought that since it is a New Year and many resolutions include "weight loss", that I would re-post my personal journey story and hopefully be able to help as many people as I did last year:)

I have long since reached my weight loss goal, however I'm happy to report that Chloe became a Weight Watchers Lifetime Member in 2011 by losing 82 pounds! She did it....I couldn't be more proud of her dedication and what she has accomplished.
She tells me everyday, "Mom, I like looking at this photo because it reminds me of what I will never look like again".

Way to go Chloe.....................holla!

Who has started a New Years Resolution with weight loss on the brain? I mean Cmon....who really wants to admit they have an issue with a part of their body they wish they could change? We pop in and out of blogs and websites all day long looking at the latest and greatest fashions, makeup trends and lifestyles of those we have come to admire.

Everyone is always comparing themselves to someone else, even if they are doing it subconsciously. We all do it.....maybe some of us just don't admit it as freely.

Now ask yourself.....how many of the blogs you visit would post a photo of themselves in scruffy clothes, no makeup, or less than perfect hair?

Better yet...how many would admit they have or have had a weight issue, let alone post photos for the world to see the biggest struggle of their life?

I was always the kind of person who could eat what they wanted and never gain weight. I posted that my weight issues began when I turned 40, but in reviewing photos for this post, I realized it was longer than that. I can't even tell you what happened..I don't even know, I just know I woke up one day in 2006, looked in the mirror and saw these faces staring back at me.

I look at these photos, look at my eyes, and I can see how unhappy I really was. I didn't feel good about myself. Getting dressed each day was NO fun. I pretty much wanted to crawl into a hole and not come out until I lost 50 pounds:(

Look what can happen just four short months later. I'd guess I was an easy 175 pounds here. On vacation in Hawaii, never even wearing a bathing suit because I hated my body that much. I remember always looking around and being happy I was so far from home, because no one I knew would see me in shorts.

Here is a classic example of me using "props" when photos were being taken. I would hide behind ANYTHING that was near me. I would grab a kid, a pillow, whatever was closest to hide the body I hated and was ashamed of.

Wow....just wow. Perhaps a change of hair color would make me appear thinner? Not by a long shot as displayed here, not even close. I remember dreading going out to any functions. I hated getting dressed up because nothing would ever fit me. I just kept getting bigger and bigger.

I'm pretty sure this was one of the last photos of myself before my weight loss. I had enough of tears at the computer while I waited for photos to download, HOPING there would be at least one "skinny" pic. There never was.

Having a weight issue goes far deeper than just the way you look in clothes. It pierced me to my very soul. I had NO self esteem and hated the way I looked and felt. I even stopped buying fashion magazines because I wanted to cry every time I saw a model with the perfect body, the perfect hair, the perfect "everything".

2010 was the year of Collette..just sayin:)

My daughter Chloe, who had struggled with her weight since becoming a teenager, asked me to take her to Weight Watchers. I of course said YES, as I never wanted her to feel the way I did about my body image. We joined on January 13, 2010 and I weighed in at 150 pounds.
It was a HUGE adjustment for me as I was addicted to pop, yes pop, Pepsi to be exact.
I instantly removed any type of soft drinks from my diet and replaced those with water. Whoah....was that a toughy!
I followed the plan religiously, eating my allotted points for the day, and began to exercise (which I did a whopping ZERO of prior)

I was pretty out of shape to say the least and began to use home exercise videos until my stamina caught up with the rest of me. Let's just say that Leslie Sansone and I became really close friends!! Her exercise videos were easy for me to follow, and I still felt like I had a great workout. I'd meet Leslie about four times a week in my living room.

I attended (and still do to this day) weekly Weight Watcher meetings and the pounds began to disappear each week! How groundbreaking....a great diet & exercise works:)
No matter how tough things got, no matter what cravings I had....I stuck to the plan. I was determined to never look back.
By the middle of May, I had lost forty pounds by just eating right (which includes breakfast lovlies) and exercise.

I learned soooo much from Weight Watchers that I never knew before. Starving yourself isn't the answer, it won't work, so don't even try it:) You need to EAT, to lose weight. You need to change your way of thinking and only eat when you are actually hungry, not bored, and exercise. ANY amount of exercise is better than nothing. Start off slowly...walk whenever you can. Use the stairs instead of the elevator.....get that body movin'.

For every pound you lose, you have lost 4 sticks of butter...did you know that?
This way of thinking, in terms of butter sticks, really helped me appreciate even the smallest of losses.
I have lost 160 frickin sticks of butter!!!

Because I want YOU to know, if you have a weight problem, you are not alone.
There is something you can do to get healthy, feel better about yourself, and the way you look. Don't try to go it alone. Recruit a friend to join with you. Being accountable to someone other than the scale was/is a lifesaver to this day for me. Chloe and I challenged each other with exercise and turned to one another for support when things felt out of control.

Many little girls share a common dream at a very young age.....to have a pony of their very own.
They dream of giving him a name, brushing his hair, giving him a bath with a hose, and riding him into the sunset.

I remember always asking Santa to bring me a pony for Christmas, and would be sad when I opened a plastic play horse to add to my pony collection.

Luckily, my dream came true as an adult, and I have experienced the true love between a horse and it's owner.

{ Baked Vegetarian Egg Rolls }

Sometimes being a vegetarian has it's disadvantages with limited food choices. Although everyone seems to be eating way healthier these days counting calories, watching fat intake & eating less meat, eateries still exist that haven't thought to add a simple vegetarian burger to their menu.

Those are the times I order a salad, a piece of bread, pasta, or a side of vegetables.

Don't feel too bad for me. I can happily accept steamed rice with salsa mixed in for dinner.
By the way, rice & salsa kinda rocks!

I'm constantly scouring the internet, always looking for new vegetarian recipes to try.
When I ran across this little number, I knew it would be a hit not only with me, but with the "~~oh so picky, please don't let it taste like garbage mom~~" trusting kiddos that I have:)

One of the things that I really loved about this recipe is that these egg rolls are baked, not fried.
(Less lard = less fat = less Collette, just sayin')

I've eaten tons of vegetarian foods, and I feel pretty dang incredible telling you, not only were these egg rolls the apples of my eye Sunday night, they were SOOO inexpensive to make!

Simple, inexpensive ingredients can easily be turned into a hearty, healthy meal.....I know of what I speak. I'm correct!

(and if you think my car drives itself to Kroger & Meijer each week? YOU would be correct:)

All of those ingredients mixed together, transform into this little pile of yummy goodness!!!!

Follow these visual directions.....see? No excuses not to make these little wonders..... I made this SUPER EASY for you Sweets!!

And did I mention that I had tooooo much fun rolling these little guys???

Yes, they do taste as good as they look.....thanks for asking.

And because I love you all so much & want you to be happy little dippers, I have shared my sweet honey mustard sauce & a "print friendly" icon at the bottom of this post.
Now that's real love folks!

baked vegetarian egg rolls

INGREDIENTS

2 cups frozen corn, thawed
1 (15 oz.) can black beans, rinsed and drained (I used red kidney beans)
1 (10 oz.) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
1 (4 oz.) can diced green chiles, drained
4 green onions, chopped
1 tsp. ground cumin
½ tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. pepper
¼ tsp. cayenne pepper
1 package egg roll wrappers (about 24 total)

DIRECTIONS

In a large bowl, combine everything but the egg roll wrappers. Mix well to blend. Lay an egg roll wrapper out on a work surface so that one of the corners is pointing toward you and place ¼ cup of the filling in the center. Fold the tip closest to you up over the filling, roll a bit, then take the points pointing outward and fold them in toward the center. Continue rolling into an egg roll shape until a small part of the remaining point is still free. Dip a finger in water or beaten egg and lightly brush on the edges of the free corner. Finish rolling and press to seal closed. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Preheat the oven to 425˚ F. Lightly oil a baking sheet with cooking spray. Place the sealed egg rolls on the baking sheet seam side down and spray the tops of the egg rolls with cooking spray. Bake for about 15 minutes, or until lightly brown, turning halfway through baking. Serve warm with Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce (recipe below).

honey mustard dipping sauce

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice

DIRECTIONS

Mix the mayonnaise, yellow mustard, Dijon mustard, honey, and lemon juice together in a bowl. Cover and chill in refrigerator overnight.

The Whitelist

I thought I would kick off the first Twitter Tuesday of the New Year with a bang!

I hope you are ready for a treat, because I bring to you this week Yehyah, of The Whitelist! Not only is he one of the most fabulous people I have come across on Twitter, his blog popularity is rising by leaps and bounds daily! He is definitely one to watch in the New Year.

I'll never forget when I discovered his blog last year and instantly saying aloud "Wow, this dude is soooo cool!". As we make our way around the internet daily, we find loads of inspiration from fashion blogs penned by women, but finding one by a man? Now that's pretty rare......and you, Yehyah, do it so well.

Yehyah spends most of his time in London, and has been blogging at The Whitelist for about four months.

His two favorite colors are red & sky blue, and his favorite time of day is a sunny afternoon.

Yehyah's favorite way to relax? " Listen to hardcore rock music! Just kidding!!! Probably just watching cheesy TV shows or a movie I’ve been waiting to see for ages".

What was your initial goal for your blog when you first began, and how has that changed today?

Yehyah: I started off blogging because of mainly due to photography. I like taking photos and thought it would be great to have a photography blog but I’ve hardly taken any photos at all and instead, I took the fashion blog route. It was originally meant to be a mix of fashion and photography with more photography than fashion but the fashion side of things really took off.

Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
Yehyah: I have no idea to be honest. I tend to go on gut feel. If I see something I like, I go with it. I’ve got the same attitude with shopping, I don’t over-think it. I just go with what I like so back to your original question (sorry for the mini-waffle there), I think that I must draw inspiration from a lot of things but I can’t really pinpoint any ‘stand out’ source of fashion inspiration.

Describe your style
Yehyah: Eclectic! I like to try new things so there isn’t a style genre out there that I wouldn’t try.

How many hours a day/week do you spend working on your blog?
Yehyah: Hard to say! My blog is fairly new so I tend to spend quite a bit of time tweaking it. A rough guess would be anything from 20 – 40 hours (maybe more?). The reason it’s hard to quantify is because it varies a lot. There are days when I can’t spend any time on it and there are days when I spend time on it intermittently between doing other tasks. Or some days when I binge and go on it all day (though usually, that’s compensating for the days I didn’t do anything).

Where is your favorite place to shop?

Yehyah: I’d say I don’t have a favourite place but the two places I find myself spending a lot of time are H&M and Selfridges. I like Topman as well though and there are a few fantastic bargains to be had in TK Maxx (It’s TJ Maxx in the US apparently, but in the UK, it’s TK Maxx). I’m also into vintage and thrift shops so literally, that means I’m looking for bargains anywhere from a typical vintage shop (like Beyond Retro) to charity shops.

What "must haves" will you be adding to your Fall wardrobe?

Yehyah: I think I’ve covered most of the ‘must haves’. The two things I wanted were a wool coat and leather gloves. I got the coat just before Christmas and the gloves for Christmas. Sorted! :)

What is your favorite piece of clothing/jewelry and why?
Yehyah: My Tag Heuer watch. I’m usually very impulsive with purchases as I can typically just see something I like and know straight away that I need to have it but with the Tag Heuer I really took my time deciding which one to get (the fact that it was slightly more expensive that the average also helped delay the purchase – there’s no way I was going impulsive on that one...) and I think the careful consideration helped me get one that I really liked and that I’m still crazy about till now. It helps that it’s what I term ‘functional jewellery’ (even though technically it isn’t jewellery) but basically it not only looks good but it also helps tell me the time!

Do you have any advice for new bloggers who are just getting started?

Yehyah: Tricky one since I’m fairly new to blogging as well, but the main thing is to have fun with it and just be yourself. The blogs I really like are the ones that not only look good, but the writer also has a unique ‘voice’ / personal stamp. It makes the blog stand out and more interesting to read.

Where do you see yourself in 2 years?
Yehyah: Not a clue! I’m not as familiar with other people’s blog stories or where the blog could take me but it would be nice to have more readers, actively engage with the blogging community and connect with more people all over the world.

I've never been a "matchy matchy" type of person in any aspect. I thrive on finding pieces that speak to me in color, texture & design. These spaces are a dream for eclectics.............are you one?

My eye is naturally drawn to anything different & out of the ordinary. The more I look, I see people decorating with chalkboards everywhere!
I think the look is not only functional, but a super cute conversation piece which can easily be repeated by "you, yourself and you".
Turn any painted surface into a self-made chalkboard for messages, photos, lists.......how whimsical!
I've already decided to repaint the inside of my pantry door with chalkboard paint and keep a running grocery list of things we need as we use them up!

Sure you can find chalkboard paint in most home improvement stores, but the ready made color choices are limited to black or green. How about a cocoa brown chalkboard? or maybe even red? (You know where I'm going with this.......make it yourself:)

Amen for a DIY that won't break the post holiday bank and can be completed in less than 846.5 hours of your life.

Chalkboard CustomColors How-To

Start with flat-finishlatex paint in any shade. For small areas, such as a door panel, mix 1 cup at atime.

1. Pour 1 cup of paintinto a container. Add 2 tablespoons of unsanded tile grout. Mix with a paintstirrer, carefully breaking up clumps.

2. Apply paint with aroller or a sponge paintbrush to a primed or painted surface. Work in smallsections, going over the same spot several times to ensure full, even coverage.Let dry.

3. Smooth area with150-grit sandpaper, and wipe off dust.

4. To condition: Rubthe side of a piece of chalk over entire surface. Wipe away residue with abarely damp sponge.

I have a layout published in this awesome idea book by Memory Makers

In keeping with my blog promise to learn more about me in the New Year.....I would like to introduce you to "my previous self". Hello, my name is Collette Osuna, a published scrapbooker.

After my son Alex passed away in 2000, I turned to scrapbooking as a form of creative release and healing. At that time, I could have never imagined the amazing opportunities that would be headed my way.

I quickly became addicted to the hobby that turned business, and before I knew it, my scrapbooking pages were being published monthly in magazines and idea books such as Memory Makers, Legacy, Scrapbooking Trends and Scrap & Stamp Art, to name a few.

I smile when I remember how thrilled I was to be contacted by the United States Postal Service to help collaborate on the design of the 2006 Holiday Stamp........amazing!

Although I don't have time to dedicate to scrapbooking these days, I sometimes take a look back at my journey.

Happy, Happy 2012 Sweets!

Are you a New Year resolution guru? I'm really not. To me, it's a short road to failure if I can't adhere to the "better be better than last years" list.

Here are some things I look forward to ~~hopefully not ditching during the first week~~ in 2012.

1. Reading More
Who doesn't love a great book? I used to read......read to the point I could barely keep my eyes open!
I'm definitely looking forward to turning the pages in this thriller!!

2. Cooking & Baking more!
Have you guys ever heard of Tastespotting ?
Holy moley....this website has some of the best photography of food pics I have ever seen!
I've been spending quite some time digging through these yummy little recipes.
Warning: do not visit this site if you are hungry....Seriously, I mean it.

3. Being a Better "budgeter"
Who hasn't always stuck to a budget? I'm definitely guilty of this crime......I'd like to spend a little less on things I don't really need.

4. Volunteering

I'm very fortunate to have been blessed with a life and family I love dearly.
I'd like to give back to my community by volunteering for a women's shelter or in a children's hospital.

5. Finding the man of my dreams
*and of course it wouldn't hurt if he just "happens" to be carrying this little number from Tiffany's!

Wfew!!! I just checked my pulse. I'm still alive, I think I can handle these.......

As another New Year approaches, I have taken some time to reflect on all this blog has been, and all that is still to come.

I have decided to incorporate new posts in the coming year that reflect more of me as a person, what I'm passionate about, and things I love.

I have been an Edgar Degas lover for most of my adult life. There's something about his paintings that not only bring me peace, but allow me to travel to a simpler place. His work is stunning.
