It's Twitter Tuesday Time!
Every other Tuesday, I will be showcasing one of my amazing Twitter friends on my blog!
I've been so fortunate to have met some really incredible and talented people since I began blogging.
Twitter Tuesday is a fabulous way to meet new bloggers and visit some amazing new blog sites.
If you would like a chance to be featured on Twitter Tuesday, it's easy......
Just click on the "Twitter" button in my right sidebar, and we will be instantly connected as Twitter friends. Let's chat and get to know each other:)
I have some really great "Tweet Buddies" and can't wait to meet more!
My friends are your friends :)
Ladies & Gents, please meet my blogging buddy of the week, Catie of Fleur d'Elise!
Catie is one of the very first bloggers I discovered a couple of years ago. I was instantly attracted to her blog because she has a style that each and every one of us can get inspiration from! (It also doesn't hurt that I love polka dots & stripes just as much as Catie does)
Catie has been featured on the Forever 21 Blog as well as Glamour Magazine! Go Catie! I'm super proud to call you friend!
Make sure you stop by her super fantabulisitc blog today and become a new follower....you won't be sorry, trust me:)
Catie currently lives in Seattle and has been blogging at Fleur d'Elise since July of 2010. Her favorite fashion icon is Blair from Atlantic Pacific. (<-----VERY cool lady by the way:)
Catie's favorite patterns are stripes & polka dots, and her favorite time of day is the morning. Catie's favorite way to relax? "Sitting at a cafe with a magazine and a latte... and possibly a croissant :)"
Let's learn more about my super sweet Twitter Tuesday Buddy!!
What was your initial goal for your blog when you first began, and how has that changed today?
Catie: I didn't really have a solidly thought-out goal. That's not how I roll; I'm horrible at planning. I just knew I wanted to do it. I've gotten better at planning (it's easier when you have real ideas). I know I want to style and be part of the blogging world, and I want to work with companies. Looking back, that's mostly what I wanted to do when I started. It was just in my subconscious then.
Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
Catie: Right now, I get a lot of it from other bloggers and magazines. If I see something I like, I adapt it and put my own spin on it, of course. Also, being out in nature and/or listening to music is very inspiring. It doesn't provide direct fashion inspiration, but general, creative inspiration. It gets my creative juices flowing.
Describe your personal or decorating style
Catie: This is always the hardest for me to do. I like clothes that make sense, so usually I wear really classic styles: pencil skirts, oxfords shirts, striped boat-neck tops, etc. But really, all an outfit has to do for it to make sense to me is tell a story. My favorite is "...a girl in a French cafe, circa 1952"

How many hours a day/week do you spend working on your blog?
Catie:
Probably too many. I really should go back to school, but I've never felt so dedicated to something. I'm always excited about; I am always in a blogging mood. Being a natural procrastinator, any time I find something I can get myself to do regularly and in a timely manner, well, I don't want to discourage myself from doing it!
Where is your favorite place to shop?
Catie: H&M and J.Crew, when I have the money.
What "must haves" will you be adding to your Spring wardrobe?
Catie: I'm on the look out for a nice pair of cat-eye style sunglasses. Hopefully not too expensive. Oh, and a new purse!
What is your favorite piece of clothing, and why?
Catie: My classic blue oxford shirt. I love the color and have a thing for collars, so naturally it's my favorite. Also, it's perfect for those days when you feel lazy, but need to look at least slightly pulled together.
Do you have any advice for new bloggers who are just getting started?
Keep going! Don't feel discouraged if you don't gain a 1000 or even 10 followers after the first month. Like anything, blogging takes time and effort. While you're waiting for people to "come around" and read your blog, go read other blogs, make friends, do some networking. You won't make it as a blogger if you don't really immerse yourself in the culture of blogging! Get a Twitter account, a FB page, join all the blogger platforms, and write, write, write!
If you have a career besides blogging, what do you do?
Catie: Usually, I would say "Ugh." but I'm actually content with my job(s) right now. I'm a property manager, which can either be really easy and slow or really stressful and hectic. I also nanny 2 days a week and drive another boy to school, tutoring, library, etc. Whenever I'm asked what I do I always wanna say "Kids, stay in school. At the very least, so you can explain your work in one word."
Please share with us something we would never guess about you. IE; a favorite hobby, a talent, a quirky habit:
Catie: I accidentally had dinner with Bobby Kennedy Jr. and his family. It's a long story. They have a real nice house, though.
Where did the name for your blog derive from?
Catie:
Firstly, my middle name is Elise. Secondly, my mom was born in a little town called Doremy in Northeast France; the same town that Joan of Arc was born in. She was baptized in the same church that Joan of Arc was baptized in. There are even claims that she may be a distant relative (something about the same last name). My mom, sisters, and I feel a strong connection to her. My mom and sisters got Fleur d'Lis tattoos, to symbolize a connection to France and Joan of Arc, but I'm terrified of needles, so I just named my blog after the symbol.
Where do you see yourself in 2 years?
Catie:
Probably just pregnant, haha. I got married last year and we've got it semi-scheduled LOL

Thank you so much Catie, for allowing me to feature you as my Twitter Tuesday Friend:)
