{Passion for Edgar Degas}

As another New Year approaches, I have taken some time to reflect on all this blog has been, and all that is still to come.

I have decided to incorporate new posts in the coming year that reflect more of me as a person, what I'm passionate about, and things I love.

I hope you will join me.

I have been an Edgar Degas lover for most of my adult life. There's something about his paintings that not only bring me peace, but allow me to travel to a simpler place. His work is stunning.

December 27. 2011
Twitter Tuesday, brought to you by:

I have been a follower of Andrea's blog for quite sometime now. Not only is she originally a fellow Michigan blogger, she's as sweet as pie and has a keen eye for the hottest styles!
Andrea has partnered with Payless Shoes, among other fabulous companies, and I cannot wait to hear more about her recent collaboration with Michael Kors.....holla Home girl!!! Soooo excited for you!

Andrea currently lives in Chicago, and has been blogging at Blonde Bedhead for two years. Andrea's favorite fashion icon is Carolline of Caroline's Mode. "She has an edgy, understated style I love yet, she's always taking risks and I find her incredibly inspiring".

Her two favorite colors or patterns? "I love anything stripes! I also love wearing black and grey, it's safe, but I love dark, muted colors".
Andrea's favorite time of day is "any time of the year as the sun begins to set, great lighting for photography and I always look at the weather with a photographer's eye. Clouds don't bother me because it's easier to photograph in!"
Andrea's favorite way to relax? "shopping relaxes me and as typical as that is for a blogger, it's my favorite past time. I also love reading and watching movies.

Let's learn more about my super sweet Twitter Tuesday Buddy!!

What was your initial goal for your blog when you first began, and how has that changed today?
Andrea:   My initial goal was to just casually share my outfits and my own photography. I was hell bent against sponsors and expanding my blog into that territory, but as I began I found it fun and challenging in a new way. It was looking at my blog as a business since it's something I'm passionate about, but my number one focus is still sharing my own personal style and featuring my photography.

Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
Andrea
I think subconsciously I draw my inspiration from my dad. He loves music, wears all black, leather and a lot of jewelry and accessories. He's a bad ass.

Describe your style
Andrea   I'd say my style is pretty relaxed, edgy and fuss-free. I love cotton and leather, a crazy heel and anything black. I love to mix in patterns and colors here and there to spice things up, but my go-to outfit is a tee, leather jacket, skinny jeans and sky-high platform boots.

How many hours a day/week do you spend working on your blog?
Andrea:      I spend a couple hours a day on average. It's a big commitment!

Where is your favorite place to shop?
Andrea:   I love department stores! I can always score great sales and no matter how many online flash sales and online discounts there are, there is nothing more thrilling and rewarding than spotting a sweet item in store in your size and being able to walk out with it and wear it the same day! I also love American Apparel, Zara, Nasty Gal, Lulu's and any vintage shop!

 What "must haves" will you be adding to your Fall wardrobe?
Andrea: I'm loving snakeskin right now! I just got some snakeskin shoes, but I'd love to accessorize with more animal prints.

What is your favorite piece of clothing/jewelry and why?
Andrea:
  My favorite piece of jewelry is a beautiful necklace by friend Merl Kinzie designed (http://www.etsy.com/listing/86217750/reserved-handmade-one-of-a-kind) I snatched it up pretty much as soon as I saw it and I wear it almost everyday. It's the perfect statement piece to add to my understated outfits.

Do you have any advice for new bloggers who are just getting started?
Andrea:  Definitely--just have fun! Don't worry about sponsorships, giveaways, or anything like that. Start your blog for the right reason: because you have the passion for whatever you're blogging about. The other stuff will follow. And network, network! Developing relationships with bloggers makes for some of the best friendships, but is also a good way for exposure.

If you  have a career besides blogging, what do you do?
Andrea:   I'm an account executive for an advertising agency, Band Digital. I'm also a wedding photographer.

Where do you see yourself in 2 years?
Andrea:
 That's a good question--I don't quite know! I'd love to start working on my master's, continue to do fun projects with my blog and meet new, fun people and work with some more brands/designers I love like Rebecca Minkoff.

Please share with us something we would never guess about you. IE; a favorite hobby, a talent, a quirky habit........
Andrea:  As much as I'm a city girl, I love horses and love to go home and visit my parent's hobby farm to ride the horses, visit the goats, play with the dogs and bother the cats.

Thank you so much Andrea, for allowing me to feature you as my Twitter Tuesday Friend:)

{Merry Christmas: From Us, to You}

Merry Christmas Eve Sweet Things!
I'm taking a break from Saturday Blogger Link Love, as I'm knee deep in cooking & baking to get ready for the "big day".

After 10 straight hours of shopping yesterday (and bruises on my wrist from holding all the bags) I'm happy to say that my shopping is complete!! Woot!

I plan to spend the next two days eating my weight in food like its "my job", and making new Christmas memories with my family.

Wishing you and yours, the very best of Christmas!

{A Country Christmas}

I've often dreamed of  my ideal Christmas. Packing up the car, gathering the kiddos, and traveling to a Country Christmas getaway. You hear the snow crunching under the car tires, the smell of fireplaces burning in the midst, and all the while, you know families are busy making new Christmas memories that will last a lifetime.

Yes. That would be sort of perfect.

{Bloggers Rock the Colors of Christmas: Blue}

I have called upon my closest and dearest blogging friends to help participate in a blog post for Statements in Fashion, titled: "Bloggers Rock the Colors of Christmas". I'd love for you to join us too!

So what do you have to do, you ask?
Seeing that the most popular colors of Christmas are Red, Green, White, Gold, Silver & Blue........you just need to post an outfit to your blog today wearing the Christmas color of your choice listed above. Easy Peasy.
The outfit doesn't have to be your "Christmas best", casual and jean outfits are of course welcome!

I'm casually blue. I decided since I have to dress up for work everyday, that it would be nice to wear some comfy blue skinny jeans, and one of my favorite cobalt blue scarves. Glitzy dress.... you will just have to wait for the Holiday party to make your appearance. Today is blue jean day babay.

Grab the thumbnail below by right clicking the photo, post it on your blog with your Christmas color outfit, and link up Sweet Things.  I can't wait to see everyone's outfits!

{Meet Jane}

The story of the dress. You know the one. You spot a dress you just "have to have", you wear it once, and there it hangs in your closet. How many times have you purchased a dress, brought it home, and have absolutely no idea how to style it?
The stale dress stories stop here my friend.  Please meet my new Karina Dress, Jane.
If you have been following my blog, you know that I love a fun, funky pattern, and this little lady fits the bill. I have a gazillion styling ideas for this dress!

 Already being a fan of Karina Dresses, I was thrilled when they reached out to me for a review of my own. Karina creates dresses for every "body", celebrating women from 18-80, making all women look & feel great, no matter what shape or size. Karina Dresses are "eco-friendly", machine washable, and no ironing is ever needed....nice! Each and every dress is made with love in Brooklyn! (New York is definitely my favorite place in the world if I may add)

How can this post get any better? Karina Dresses is offering Statements in Fashion readers a $30.00 discount towards the purchase of your very own Karina dress……hollla!!
Click the Karina Dress box in my sidebar to be magically whisked away to the Karina Dress website.
Oh, I almost forgot.
 If you purchase a dress and love it as much as I did, here's a little insider knowledge: the company is quietly seeking brand ambassadors in all 50 states to participate in its upcoming home-based selling initiative.

 I am honored to be one of Karina Dresses Brand Ambassadors. Keep your eyes open, more exciting Karina Dress news coming your way soon!

{Food Network Holiday Central & IFB Links ala Mode}

Happy Sunday Little Bits!
I'm hoping everyone is having a great weekend doing lots of Christmas shopping and Holiday planning. I'm not sure how the weather is where you live, but can I just say "I love you valet man at the mall"? Cripes.....it is freezing in Michigan, hence the lack of outfit posts this week. Hang in there sisters & brothers, exciting things are coming your way! I'm heading out today for an outdoor photoshoot....send me your hats, gloves, mittens....I'll take em!

On a much warmer note, I am super excited to be in the midst of collaborating with an amazing company for a new Spring LookBook.  Stay tuned.................

Now let's talk Christmas cooking.  Yes, I am a fashion blogger. Yes, I am a "foodie". Yes, I am addicted to Food Network. An addiction isn't so bad if you can own it, right? I can get lost on the Food Network website like it's my job. (A job I would totally love to have eight hours a day, if I may add.)
Check out some of my favorite Food Network Best of Christmas 2011 recipes.
Can I get a yum?

Old Fashioned Holiday Glazed Ham

Baked French Toast Casserole w/Maple Syrup

Homemade Spaetzle

At the risk of sounding like a Christmas song, isn’t this the most wonderful time of the year?
