Twitter Tuesday, brought to you by:

I can remember feeling so excited the first time I visited Pam's blog. I was so happy to find a fabulous fashion blogger who was 40ish:)
Pam has done an AWESOME job showing her loyal readers that fashion and life do not stop after 40! Shes super savvy, has one of the kindest hearts I know, and is loved by her readers near and far!
Visit Pam's blog and give her a shout out....I'm sure you'll think she is super fab too!!!!
Pam currently lives in San Antonio, TX and has been blogging at Over 50 Feeling 40 since July, 2010.
Pam's favorite colors are purple & olive green, but she has many favorites!.
Pam thinks she should have been named DIANE when asked about her favorite fashion icon......….she loves Diane Von Furstenberg with her classy and creative designs; and she also love the styles of Diane Keaton!
Pam's favorite time of day is in the morning. She rises with a "let's get it done" attitude.
Pam's favorite way to relax? "I practice the THREE Cs PLAN of RELAXATION:  coffee, candles, and a chic flick (can also be a classic book)"

Let's learn more about my super sweet Twitter Tuesday Buddy!!

What was your initial goal for your blog when you first began, and how has that changed today?
Pam: My initial goal was to inspire and encourage women over 50 to get out of the doldrums of middle age and have fun living.  I realized at age 50 that I was in a rut.  I had given up and I will even go so far as to say, that I had lost “me.”   That was almost eight years ago.  Since then I went through a REINVENTION process and I was encouraged by my friends to share that process with others and begin a blog. The original mission for the blog has not changed.  In fact, readers have given me so much feedback about the help they have received.  This has just lit a fire under me to go forward with great determination.  It is so much fun and I love the relationships I have made through the blog.  I think we have a cool movement growing of 50+ women with attitude, strength and dignity!!

Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
Pam: Since I became a blogger, my inspiration comes mostly from other blogs.  There are so many ways I am inspired…fashion magazines, fashion television shows, the beauty of creation, various forms of art and women I admire.   But, blogs are the best way to find women like me and see what they are doing.

Describe your style
Pam I hope my style is creative, dignified, classy, and strong.  I desire to reflect confidence with who I am…right now…at 57 years old, a teacher, a mom, a wife, a writer, a blogger, a friend….right where I am.  I love edgy and youthful, but it has to be with class and appropriate for all of those hats I wear.  When someone sees me, I hope they see a confident, classy, strong woman wearing a smile.

How many hours a day/week do you spend working on your blog?
Pam: Well, I am torn….I feel like I work too much on it and again I feel like I do not work enough on it!!  I think other bloggers will understand that feeling. I currently think I give it one to two hours a day total.  But I am very busy with my own life at this moment.  Next year, we will be the infamous empty nest and I have some plans to ramp it up and give it more time.  The disadvantage which holds me back  often is that I have so much to learn about technology and thus far, I am self- taught.  I need time to learn!

Where is your favorite place to shop?
Pam:
This seems to be changing for me as I lose weight.  For years, it has been Lane Bryant, Avenue, and Coldwater Creek.  But, now that I am losing weight, a whole new world has opened up to me and I love it!  I just made my first purchase EVER at Ann Taylor.  I also have purchased an amazing outfit for my daughter’s wedding and I will be blogging about this designer later in June…look for it…the fit of her designs are incredible.

What "must haves" will you be adding to your Spring wardrobe?
Pam: Events in my life have determined the shopping budget!!  Most of the spring money went to the wedding attire for the rehearsal and the wedding .  But, since I lost weight (27 pounds to date), I am in desperate need of bottoms that fit.  So, what I will add first over the next few months are skirts and pants.  Currently, my blog features me in many oversized looks, just because I do not have the money to replace it all at once.  I am excited to see how the pants I have ordered from Ann Taylor fit.   It is frustrating to wait…but patience is a virtue.

What is your favorite piece of clothing/jewelry and why?
Pam:
My favorite piece of clothing right this minute is my pair of jeggings!!  I feel skinny and trendy in them.  Every time I wear them, I get compliments. I have so many ways to style them.   I love jewelry so it is hard to pick just one!!

Do you have any advice for new bloggers who are just getting started?
Pam I think it helps to have a goal or a mission for your blog so that you understand why you are there, have a target audience to seek out, and have direction with blog decisions.  Also, don’t get discouraged in the beginning when traffic is slow…perseverance will pay off.

If you  have a career besides blogging, what do you do?
Pam:  I often discuss my life as a high school teacher!  It is a blessing for me to teach journalism, something I truly love.  I am only there for journalism and speech.  I could not teach any other subject.  I decided to major in journalism my eighth grade year and I never once questioned it…the profession has always been in my blood.  I just started teaching ten years ago and it has truly been a blessing and a passion.   I would love to see my students bring the profession back to one of respected, diligent, trusted, thorough reporters.

Where do you see yourself in 2 years?
Pam:
I had to stop and ponder this one a moment.  I would love to have a viable income with writing and speaking.  I love teaching journalism and will probably always do that, but the real fun for me is with freelance writing and speaking engagements. ….also, maybe someday, over50feeling40 will be a television or radio show!!  Who knows?   So far, the blog has grown faster than I imagined it could….such fun!

Thank you so much Pam, for allowing me to feature you as my Twitter Tuesday Friend:)

How stinking cute is Louise> Cmon now..you can hardly stand it!! Me too....:)
I'm so happy that I stumbled upon her blog from a friends link. I was instantly hooked with her nostalgic sense of style and how down to earth she is. She truly is one of the sweetest darn little bloggers I know.
Visit Louise's blog and give her a shout out....I'm sure you'll think she is super fab too!!!!
Louise currently lives in Mount Angel, OR and has been blogging at Coffee & A Cardigan since August, 2010.
Louise's favorite colors are Red & Navy.
Louise doesn't exactly have a fashion icon,  but if she had to pick, it would be her bosom friend Natalie. She is sophisticated while being inventive, and always smells divine.
Louise's favorite time of day is in the morning after she has her cup of coffee:)
Louise's favorite way to relax is to read L.M. Montgomery and Agatha Christie books.

Let's learn more about my super sweet Twitter Tuesday Buddy!!

What was your initial goal for your blog when you first began, and how has that changed today?
Louise: I initially began Coffee & a Cardigan as a hobby to simply archive my outfits.  I was nervous at first, since I was a size ten and a wife and mother.  I had no idea that an actual community was out there, waiting to support and encourage me!

Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
Louise: Flower beds inspire me, with the abounding combinations of unusual shapes and colors.  I also receive inspiration from Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers films, L.M Montgomery books, my favorite blogs, Lucky Magazine, and Emily Martin's The Paper Doll Primer.

Describe your style
Louise I tend to gravitate towards an old-fashioned aesthetic, but I almost always thrown in a touch of modernity.  On the rare occasion that I don't feel like wearing a dress, I throw on my boyfriend jeans with a hoodie and call it a day!  I avoid subservience to a particular 'style,' because I love having that freedom of wearing what I want.

How many hours a day/week do you spend working on your blog?
Louise:
I spend two or three hours a day on my blog, six days a week!

Where is your favorite place to shop?
Louise:
I do most of my shopping online at Etsy, Ebay, or Forever 21 for cheap and sweet dresses.  In real life, I frequent H&M, Target, and Gap's clearance racks.  I also attend a tri-yearly antique show where I've scored some wonderful pieces.

What "must haves" will you be adding to your Spring wardrobe?
Louise: I purchased an accordion pleated tomato red skirt from H&M and a 1950s dress from Etsy... but I really have all I need!  This spring, I'll be wearing espadrilles, colorful ankle socks, frilly blouses, wooden platforms, floral dresses, and peachy makeup.

What is your favorite piece of clothing/jewelry and why?
Louise:
I just acquired my great-grandmother's beautiful locket.  It's a one-inch circle with a star diamond in the center.  I like its simplicity, and it's wonderful to wear something a relative that I never knew. It connects us, I think.

Do you have any advice for new bloggers who are just getting started?
Louise Judy Garland said, “Be a first rate version of yourself, not a second rate version of someone else.”  THAT.  I mean, if you follow that one piece of advice, people will want to read your blog.  Also, turn off comment word verification.

If you  have a career besides blogging, what do you do?
Louise: I am a stay at home Mother to my daughter Rowena, and I work part time at a local youth center.

Where do you see yourself in 2 years?
Louise:
I will still be fashion blogging, but I hope to have another baby on my lap while doing it.  I'll be recording music more, too.  I hope that I still live in this little village with my husband and daughter.  I hope that my blog has taken off to where I can help support my family with it!

Thank you so much Louise, for allowing me to feature you as my Twitter Tuesday Friend:)

Twitter Tuesday, brought to you by:
Krystle is one of my favorite bloggers...ever. She has a great sense of style and is one of the most supportive bloggers I know. She's the first person to send you congratulations or encouraging words. She has come so far in such a short amount of time!! I'm super happy for all of her success and even happier to call her my friend:)
Visit Krystle's blog and give her a shout out....I'm sure you'll think she is super fab too!!!!
Krystle currently lives in Portland, OR and has been blogging at Fierce, Fabulous, Fit since November, 2010.
Krystle's favorite colors are Black & White.
Krystle doesn't exactly have a fashion icon,  but really appreciates the Kardashian sisters' styles. "They are pretty fabulous".
Krystle's favorite time of day is evenings and late nights:)
Krystle's favorite way to relax is running/exercising, blogging, reading a good book or blogs, long talks with her best friends, spending time with her family.
Let's learn more about my super sweet Twitter Tuesday Buddy!!

What was your initial goal for your blog when you first began, and how has that changed today?
Krystle: Initially my blog was a celebration of womanhood. It was shopping, outfit posts, a few recipes and a little bit of wellness. I have to say I wasn't exactly sure how my blog would turn out or what the purpose was when I started other than, I had been battling chronic illness for quite some time, and had really lost/given up on my personal style and many elements of me. My blog helped me pull out of that place of feeling bad and looking bad. It started off as a way for me to be accountable to myself to renewing my sense of style and taking pride in it no matter how my body felt inside. It was a struggle at first but it worked! Now my blog is a whole lot of everyday style and fitness, and a little bit of shopping and some of my life sprinkled in! I love it!!

Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
Krystle: My fashion inspiration comes from all over!! I find it in magazines, my friends and even my family! I also see looks I covet on television, and certainly all of your fabulous blogs!! Just recently I got a call for last minute plans and I was feeling pretty "blah" about my closet at the moment, so I opened up my laptop and started browsing my favorite blogs for some ideas! Needless to say, I walked out the door lookin' haute thanks to some of you!

Describe your style
Krystle My style is definitely evolving! I would say it's classic with some sass thrown in!

How many hours a day/week do you spend working on your blog?
Krystle:
I would say I spend easily 20 hours a week on posting, reading/commenting, responding to emails and managing my Twitter and Facebook fan page.

Where is your favorite place to shop?
Krystle:
I don't have one favorite place. I love to go to Nordstrom/Nordstrom Rack for most of my shoes and denim. Aside from that I shop all over; Target, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Macy's, Jessica Simpson Collection online, etc. I plan to get into thrifting soon!

What "must haves" will you be adding to your Spring wardrobe?
Krystle: For Spring/Summer, I must have a pair of white flares, more maxi dresses, more white in general, and more print! I have way too many solids in my closet! Oh, also another pair of espadrilles and some updated sunnies!

What is your favorite piece of clothing/jewelry and why?
Krystle:
My favorite jewelry would be my cocktail rings. I love those statement pieces. My designer jeans are my favorite pieces of clothing. They last forever, and they can be dressed up or down. You can style them just about any way you'd like!

Do you have any advice for new bloggers who are just getting started?
Krystle: Oh, new bloggers... I'm still new!! Ha, ha. Be yourself. I know many people say this but that's because it's true. When you are YOU, it shows. Always be genuine- not just genuine in your posts on YOUR page, but be genuine in your comments and other interactions with your readers and fellow bloggers. Check your motives. Are you getting involved in a certain blog event because it seems everyone else is doing it or because you're truly interested and it fits with your blog's purpose and style? Are you commenting on this post just to link yourself to it, or do you really have something to say?? And have FUN! Really enjoy this because it's supposed to be fun!

If you  have a career besides blogging, what do you do?
Krystle: I have a Bachelor's of Science in Public Health: Health Promotion & Education. For the past 2.5 years I have been an Intake Specialist for Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrics- basically triage. Right now I am in the process of deciding what's next for myself. As I mentioned above, I am considering going back to school. I am definitely ready to step up to more challenges! So for now I am just blogging and working some for my dad's company.

Where do you see yourself in 2 years?
Krystle:
This is a great question! For the first time in my life my future is a whole bunch of question marks!! The crazy (and beautiful) part about it is, I have complete peace! I am really taking time to pray and reflect on my life to decide what will be next for me. I left my previous job in Behavioral and Developmental Pediatrics about a month ago. Now I am considering going back to school to be a PNP and see my own patients, going to cosmetology school or further pursuing fitness/wellness consulting as I have a bachelor's in Health Promotion & Education. It's a bit scary not knowing what's next, but it's also exciting! One thing I am sure of is that my blog will still be going strong!

Thank you so much Krystle, for allowing me to feature you as my Twitter Tuesday Friend:)

Twitter Tuesday, brought to you by:

Who doesn't love a super sweet, stylish red head? That is exactly what Alyson is:)
Her hair might be red hot, but so is her firey personality! Alyson is one of the sweetest people I have met since blogging. Her writing style is so inviting and she's always the first to give a shout out to other bloggers with words of encouragement:)
Visit Alyson's blog and give her a shout out....I'm sure you'll think she is super fab too!!!!
Alyson currently lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Fl and has been blogging at The Average Girls Guide since August, 2010.
Alyson's favorite colors (at the moment) are Bright Cobalt Blue and Hot Pink.
Alyson is currently admiring the styles of Rachel Bilson (modern eclectic), Nicole Ritchie (boho), Blake Lively (always wearing killer blazers) and  Reese Witherspoon  (perfect casual chic).
Alysonss favorite time of day is about 6 pm when her daughter and husband come home; seeing those smiles make her world go 'round:)
Alyson's favorite way to relax is Blogging! Also, watching tv (Modern Family, Parenthood, Gossip Girl, the list goes on!) and loungin' in bed.
Let's learn more about my super sweet Twitter Tuesday Buddy!!

What was your initial goal for your blog when you first began, and how has that changed today?
Alyson:I've had the idea for this blog for years, the idea being that I wanted a place to connect all women because at the end of the day, you, me, we're all the same average, typical gal who just wants to live a fabulous life. My blog shares a variety of topics from fashion and discounts to food and other fun topics. Now, I've realized that beyond all of that, women also need a place to be truthful and share what's behind really going on in our lives. Unfortunately, it's not all fashion and smiles (I wish it was that easy!). I've tackled loneliness and next up is weight.

Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
Alyson: Everywhere! Since I've discovered this world of blogs (I swear I had NO clue all of you fabulous women were out there just eight months ago!), I absolutely love seeing the outfit posts from other women. And, not necessarily the ones who are wearing designer brands I can't afford; just other women like me, like Collette and others who are mixing Forever21 with a special pieces, for example. I also love scanning the magazines for how I can use what I have to work the latest trends, and seeing celebrity style.

Describe your style
Alyson It's definitely maturing and evolving. Right now: Modern yet classic -- and classy!, and a little eclectic with a girly vibe.

How many hours a day/week do you spend working on your blog?
Alyson:
Wow, a lot! I love it. I post at least five or six times a week plus all the time I spend connecting with women I meet through it on Twitter and Facebook. 20 hours a week?

Where is your favorite place to shop?
Alyson:
Gap, Loehmanns, Target, H&M, Bloomies and Nordstrom, and I'm starting to check out thrift stores... great finds so far!

What "must haves" will you be adding to your Spring wardrobe?
Alyson: Fortunately, I already have a number of Spring must haves -- nude shoes, maxi dresses, wide-leg pants/jeans. These days, I'm only purchasing items that will help rid me of my "I have nothing to wear syndrome!" -- all women should go this route. Make a list and stick to it! As for me, I need tops: stylish blouses for business casual meetings or a dinner out; and sheer and lace looks that are summery, can be layered and work all-year-long in Florida.

What is your favorite piece of clothing/jewelry and why?
Alyson:
Jewelry: my wedding band! Second, I have a major watch addiction... my latest love: Michael Kors brown tortoise shell watch. Clothing: I have a cardy obsession. Huge. I just added a fab, long navy and cream striped one on a major sale from Ann Taylor. I have one in almost every color... regardless of weather, this gal is guaranteed to have a cardy with her!

Do you have any advice for new bloggers who are just getting started?
Alyson: Everyone says it but it's so true: be true to you. At the end of the day, your blog is a reflection of who you are, not who your readers want you to be or what they like. Write and post for you. I strayed a little from that a few months ago --  not majorly but just adding in content I thought was interesting but didn't necessarily have real meaning for women and could be found elsewhere. For exampe, I'm doing outfit posts with explanations of how this average gal is kicking up her wardrobe and ways you can do it, too. It's not just snapshots of me.

If you  have a career besides blogging, what do you do?
Alyson: I'm a busy gal: I started a PR firm last Fall (about two months after starting the blog, yes, I'm a little crazy, haha) where I represent clients across all industries... law, nonprofit, hospitality, government, etc. I've been working in PR for 10 years and love the creative outlet it affords and how I have the opportunity to help my clients share their stories to help them grow their business.

Where do you see yourself in 2 years?
Alyson:
Taking over the world, of course! Ha, just kidding but I do have big dreams for this blog, for my family and for my other career. Everyone should dream BIG!  As for the bloggie, I see it growing significantly larger because I see it as a conduit to connect with other women around the world, giving them the insight to help them live their best, most fabulous life.

Thank you so much Alyson, for allowing me to feature you as my Twitter Tuesday Friend:)
