Twitter Tuesday, brought to you by:
Who doesn't love a super sweet, stylish red head? That is exactly what Alyson is:)
Her hair might be red hot, but so is her firey personality! Alyson is one of the sweetest people I have met since blogging. Her writing style is so inviting and she's always the first to give a shout out to other bloggers with words of encouragement:)
Visit Alyson's blog and give her a shout out....I'm sure you'll think she is super fab too!!!!
Alyson currently lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Fl and has been blogging at The Average Girls Guide since August, 2010.
Alyson's favorite colors (at the moment) are Bright Cobalt Blue and Hot Pink.
Alyson is currently admiring the styles of Rachel Bilson (modern eclectic), Nicole Ritchie (boho), Blake Lively (always wearing killer blazers) and Reese Witherspoon
(perfect casual chic).
Alysonss favorite time of day is about 6 pm when her daughter and husband come home; seeing those smiles make her world go 'round:)
Alyson's favorite way to relax is Blogging! Also, watching tv (Modern Family, Parenthood, Gossip Girl, the list goes on!) and loungin' in bed.
Let's learn more about my super sweet Twitter Tuesday Buddy!!
Alyson:I've had the idea for this blog for years, the idea being that I wanted a
place to connect all women because at the end of the day, you, me,
we're all the same average, typical gal who just wants to live a
fabulous life. My blog shares a variety of topics from fashion and
discounts to food and other fun topics. Now, I've realized that beyond
all of that, women also need a place to be truthful and share what's
behind really going on in our lives. Unfortunately, it's not all fashion
and smiles (I wish it was that easy!). I've tackled loneliness and next
up is weight.
What
was your initial goal for your blog when you first began, and how has
that changed today?
Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
Alyson: Everywhere! Since I've discovered this world of blogs (I swear I had NO clue all of you fabulous women were out there just eight months ago!), I absolutely love seeing the outfit posts from other women. And, not necessarily the ones who are wearing designer brands I can't afford; just other women like me, like Collette and others who are mixing Forever21 with a special pieces, for example. I also love scanning the magazines for how I can use what I have to work the latest trends, and seeing celebrity style.
Describe your style
Alyson: It's definitely maturing and evolving. Right now: Modern yet classic -- and classy!, and a little eclectic with a girly vibe.
How many hours a day/week do you spend working on your blog?
Alyson: Wow, a lot! I love it. I post at least five or six times a week plus all the time I spend connecting with women I meet through it on Twitter and Facebook. 20 hours a week?

Where is your favorite place to shop?
Alyson: Gap, Loehmanns, Target, H&M, Bloomies and Nordstrom, and I'm starting to check out thrift stores... great finds so far!

What "must haves" will you be adding to
your Spring wardrobe?
Alyson: Fortunately, I already have a number of Spring must haves -- nude shoes,
maxi dresses, wide-leg pants/jeans. These days, I'm only purchasing
items that will help rid me of my "I have nothing to wear syndrome!" --
all women should go this route. Make a list and stick to it! As for me, I
need tops: stylish blouses for business casual meetings or a dinner
out; and sheer and lace looks that are summery, can be layered and work
all-year-long in Florida.
What is your favorite piece of
clothing/jewelry and why?
Alyson: Jewelry: my wedding band! Second, I have a major watch addiction... my latest love: Michael Kors brown tortoise shell watch. Clothing: I have a cardy obsession. Huge. I just added a fab, long navy and cream striped one on a major sale from Ann Taylor. I have one in almost every color... regardless of weather, this gal is guaranteed to have a cardy with her!

Do you have any advice for new bloggers who
are just getting started?
Alyson: Everyone says it but it's so true: be true to you. At the end of the
day, your blog is a reflection of who you are, not who your readers want
you to be or what they like. Write and post for you. I strayed a little
from that a few months ago -- not majorly but just adding in content I
thought was interesting but didn't necessarily have real meaning for
women and could be found elsewhere. For exampe, I'm doing outfit posts
with explanations of how this average gal is kicking up her wardrobe and
ways you can do it, too. It's not just snapshots of me.
If you have a career besides blogging, what do you do?
Where do you see yourself in 2 years?
Alyson: Taking over the world, of course! Ha, just kidding but I do have big dreams for this blog, for my family and for my other career. Everyone should dream BIG! As for the bloggie, I see it growing significantly larger because I see it as a conduit to connect with other women around the world, giving them the insight to help them live their best, most fabulous life.
