~ Guest Post: Jenna @ Seven Style Notes ~

 

Hello lovelies!
I was super-honored when Collette asked me to guest blog for her while she is in NYC. (I mean, I think we all agree this bloggerista is FABULOUS, right?) And believe it or not, she gave me free reign to share whatever my little heart desired with you all on this post. Naturally, I was on the verge of complete giddiness because I knew exactly what I wanted to share. Brace yourselves, friends. We are about to get way into some major fashion territory.

My Favorite Things: The Fashion Edition
I am pretty much addicted to anything that I deem stylish.  What do I deem stylish, you ask? Well, I make my own crazy-random rules. Whether it’s a song playing on repeat in my head, a great rom-com, laughing uncontrollably with my friends, dancing around in front of my mirror or buying yet another pair of sunglasses—if it makes me feel good, it’s stylish! I hope you guys adopt that mentality in your lives, and fill your world with stylish things. When you do, you will most definitely feel a little more fabulous.
Style comes in many forms, but for this list, we’re keeping it classic and gabbing about fashion. Here’s what I’m totally dying over right now.  Read on.

1.    Sequins. Or pretty much anything that sparkles.  That’s right, dolls. I love to sparkle and shine! And with the holidays coming up there is absolutely no excuse not to. I even picked out a fabulous glittery cocktail dress for Christmas Eve. I will be counting down the days until I can pull it out of my closet and rock it! Until then, I will just have to settle for sequined clutches and sparkly tops. What a SHAME! 

2.    Lace-Ups. Especially when paired with something frilly. I like to think of myself as somewhat of a mix master. I will by no means go head-to-toe girlie (although I have a self-diagnosed obsession with all things frilly…lace, sparkles, pink…). BUT. I absolutely need to add some edge to every look. Right now I am loving tough lace-up boots paired with a tulle ballerina skirt. It’s the perfect combination.

3.    Getting dressed up for no reason.  I cannot even tell you how many times I am complimented on my style and then told, “You are always dressed up!” My response? Darn right! I love to dress up for no reason.  I put effort into every outfit, everyday.  People take note of each ensemble, and every look definitely reveals my creativity and mood. Oh, and I do not have a closet full of fabulous pieces to NOT wear them.  Just sayin’!

4.    Red lipstick. Or mahogany. Something bold.  It’s the perfect way to add a little pizzazz to any look. I am wearing tons of color on my lips this season in my personal pledge to be bolder with my fashion choices—and that includes the beauty decisions I make to compliment said choices! There’s nothing like a crimson lip.  It will make a whole room swoon. I guarantee it.

5.    Being warm, but looking SO cool. If I have to endure Michigan winters, I am going to do it with several fabulous cold-weather coats. Right now I am dying over my fur-hood parka, shearling-lined bomber and cream pea coat. Come on, now. When does a beautiful coat fail to make you feel more chic?

6.    Anything menswear. And I mean that. If I had a boyfriend right now, he would have to watch out because I would totally be stealing all his clothes! Assuming my non-existent boyfriend has fabulous taste, of course. On second thought, even if he didn’t, I could fix that (wink, wink). The menswear I’m lusting after comes in the form of button-downs, blazers, slouchy jeans and if knock-your-socks-off amazing fedoras. Oh, and aviators! And did I mention all this should be paired with super-girlie curled tresses?  I know, I know. I am getting carried away! (It happens.) Stopping.

7.    Confidence. It’s just SO key.  Every bit as important as what you wear is the way in which you wear it. Walk tall. Smile wide. Exude fabulousity. Be confident. No matter what you have on your back, if you have confidence, you will succeed in the fashion department. I’m working on showcasing my confidence through my style. Join me ?
