Tracy currently lives in Oakland, California and has been blogging at The Closet Shopper since July 2010.  Her favorite fashion icon is Gwyneth Paltrow.

Tracy's two favorite colors are purple & sapphire and her favorite time of day is "4pm on weekdays and all day long on weekends".

Tracy's favorite way to relax? "plopped on the couch watching terrible reality TV"

Let's learn more about my super sweet Twitter Tuesday Buddy!!

What was your initial goal for your blog when you first began, and how has that changed today?
Tracy   I actually started my blog in 2007 but I really didn’t give it very much attention. And then in July of 2010 I made a commitment to myself to start posting outfit photos. I wanted to do this because I’m a fashion consultant and I wanted potential clients to see that I am just a regular gal that mixes up my wardrobe and finds great looks from things that everyone has in their closets. Also that it’s not that hard to look put together. The only thing that’s changed is that I had no idea the blogger community that I would encounter. I’ve made so many wonderful friends doing this. What a bonus!

Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
Tracy:
From other women. I’m inspired by how women on the streets dress with their personal touches. I think, “Oh, awesome outfit. I have all those pieces in my closet!” And now, my blogging sisters inspire me daily as well.

What is your favorite piece of clothing/jewelry and why?
TracyMy favorite clothing is my boyfriend jeans. I just love to be comfortable. You can look dressed up or like a slouchy bum in these babies! LOVE them.

How many hours a day/week do you spend working on your blog?
Tracy I’ve never quantified it. I will take a guess and say that I spend about 10 hours or more a week.

Where is your favorite place to shop?
TracyI have a lot of faves. They go from Target and Old Navy to J Crew and Nordstrom. But I like a bargain. I rarely pay full price for anything. So, I do lots of searching online for deals. I shop with Gilt for those high end designer pieces without paying crazy prices for them.

What "must haves" will you be adding to your Spring wardrobe?
TracyFloral sundress, white jeans, hot pink pleated hi-lo skirt, bright purple t-strap sandals.

Do you have any advice for new bloggers who are just getting started?
Tracy:

My only advice is stay true to your vision and rock it!

If you have a career besides blogging, what do you do?
Tracy:  I work a 9-5 job at a local university. That’s my steady income. On the side I run my own fashion consulting business called The Closet Shopper.

Please share with us something we would never guess about you. IE; a favorite hobby, a talent, a quirky habit:
Tracy:  Aerial acrobats. I’ve been doing circus arts for 8 years. I also perform whenever possible.

Where did the name for your blog derive from?
Tracy
The name The Closet Shopper came from living on a budget and not being able to do a lot of shopping. I would clean out my closet regularly and by doing so I would discover lots of hidden treasures and “new to me” outfits. So, I called it ‘going shopping in my closet” Whenever my sister came to visit me, she would always say, “Can I go shopping in your closet?” When I was setting up my consulting business and I was looking for a name, The Closet Shopper seemed appropriate since that’s what I do when I come to my clients homes and go through their closets to find awesome looks for them with their current wardrobe.

Describe your personal style?
Tracy: I would say that I’m a casual glamour girl. I love to mix casual pieces with fancy more dressy pieces. Someone once told me that my style was classy comfort. I like that. I think it describes me perfectly.

Where do you see yourself in 2 years?
Tracy:
I’m hoping to be able to quit my day job and focus mainly on my fashion consulting business. That’s my ultimate goal.

Thank you so much Tracy, for allowing me to feature you as my Twitter Tuesday Friend:)

{It's a Southern Thing Y'all}

I'm not sure if it's the Cold Michigan Winter that just won't quit, but I have been biting at the bit to get the heck out of the Mitten State! I've had thoughts of heading South the past couple of weeks.....a thought that has been hard to put to bed.

I'm thinking lazy Southern summer days....bbq's.....an easier way of life....and ohh.....maybe a fine Southern man who knows how to treat a lady?
Do you live in the South? I may just show up on your Southern door step soon!

Have a great day y'all!

{Goodbye Picnik: Hello PicMonkey}

Who doesn't need a cute little monkey in their life? I guarantee you will LOVE the cute little monkey I'm about to introduce you too!

We all know about Picnik closing on April 19th. I'm almost prepared to get a talking email saying: You got 10 days.
It's probably NOT going to happen, but they surely are reminding us that our favorite online photo editing program is biting the dust soon, aren't they?

I posted not too long about about FotoFlexer being a good alternative to Picnik. How about a GREAT alternative? Yea....I thought you would like that!

Ladies & Gentlemen, I have discovered the almighty clone of Picnik, and can I get an "amen"?..it is free! When I say "clone", I'm totally not screwing around with you. This program is exactly like Picnik, and it is just as easy to use....no registration is even required.

Do yourself,(and our new found monkey friend)a favor and head on over to PicMonkey to give it a try.......run do not walk...did I mention you should at least look at the program features below before scooting off my blog??

I love, love, love PicMonkey.......I'm so happy to have found it, so happy that a collage program is being added soon, and even happier to share this gem with you!

Chloe & I at Frankenmuth,Michigan for Easter yesterday:)

All the bells and whistles we are used too!

Have fun Monkey'ing around friends!!

{Swedish Done Right}

Happy Saturday everyone!! I'm hoping everyone is having a fabulous weekend relaxing and getting ready for the Easter Holiday!

I've been happily enjoying reconnecting with family and friends the past couple of days and just unwinding, or should I say rewinding? It's been a whirlwind the past couple of weeks with the grand opening of the June 1989 store, and that has definitely kept Chloe & I on our toes with orders! We thank you so much for all your wonderful emails and Facebook posts!

Much like many of you, I have an addiction to Pinterest and I have been up to no good on that site!! I'll admit it....my name is Collette and I need a "Pinterest intervention"
If you are on Pinterest, please feel free to follow me and all that I love:)

I guess now would be a good time to explain the Swedish flag at the top of this post and of course the catchy post title, right?

I cannot even begin to explain my fascination with Swedish interior design....I mean seriously, there cannot be one photo in existence that I truly do not love! Simplicity goes a long way I say!
I could easily transform my home into a Swedish retreat......and I think I will start by using some inspiration from these entryways.....wow, just wow.

Peace out brothers & sisters.....I will catch you on the flip side of the Easter Bunny!!

I love how clean looking this space is with some added pops of color.

The wall covering.......I NEED this in my life!

Perfect example of how a dark colored wall can still leave a space looking large!

Wood flooring and of course the cute colored table!

One fireplace with tons of character coming right up!
